A fair question to ask anyone, and it's even more fair to ask a solo operator. My contract carries a substitute performer clause: if I can't perform and I can't find a replacement of equal caliber, you receive a full refund. In twenty-five years I have never missed an event, but the protection is written into every contract rather than left to a promise.
